National Level Information Assurance Subject Matter Experts from the Committee of National Security Systems and the National Security Agency reviewed the courseware offered by the Information Technology Department and determined that it meets the National Training Standard for: Information Systems Security (INFOSEC) Professionals, NSTISSI No. 4011, and System Administrators (SA), CNSSI No. 4013E

The Center for Systems Security and Information Assurance (CSSIA) established the first comprehensive Information Technology Security and Data Assurance Center in the Midwest. This center collects, categorizes, adapts, enhances, standardizes and evaluates curriculum and offers training programs to community college and university faculty, secondary school faculty and students across the region. CSSIA established the following goals:

• Develop and implement an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree and certificate in IT Security and Data Assurance.
• Develop and implement an IT Security and Data Assurance concentration within the Computer Science/Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree.  
• Establish a system of interconnected security networks to provide instruction in IT Security and Data Assurance technologies. 
• Conduct train the trainer (T-T-T) summer workshops and provide externship opportunities for faculty from regional community colleges and four-year institutions.
• Establish a multilevel-level internship program for students in IT Security and Data Assurance A.A.S. and B.S. degree programs. 
• Develop and implement a comprehensive outreach and support program to increase the number of students from underrepresented groups in IT professions.
